The exciting 4th Annual Quick & Dirty Boat Building Competition
pits up to 10 three-person teams against each other in a bid to
build a boat using limited materials in six hours.
Each team is allotted four sheets of plywood, 100 screws, six
2x4s, two tubes of caulk, and a surprise "mystery" material
to be supplied on competition day. Teams will provide their own
tools and may spend up to $17.04 of their own money on materials
(receipts required). The craft, powered solely by their team members,
will then race on a course in the Foss Waterway to determine their
seaworthiness and speed.
Judging the competition will be boatbuilders, naval architects,
boat designers and marine industry representatives from around
the Puget Sound. Festivalgoers will have a chance to vote on their
favorite boat for People's Choice Award. Awards will also be presented
for Fastest, Best Use of Material and Most Original. A stunning
one-of-kind trophy will be presented for Overall Winner.
Form a team, or come to the festival and cheer on your favorite
boatbuilder. Either way, you'll have a great time!
